After a motor vehicle accident (MVA), you are incapacitated by pain and other symptoms, and soon, you realize you’ve fallen behind at work and many house chores, because you are too tired, too stiff and tight, and in too much pain to perform the way you used to.
As an approved clinic in the ICBC Recovery Network, we offer direct billing so you can focus on recovery.
We understand and we are here for you.

Act fast and seek treatment early

For Motor Vehicle Accidents, you are pre-approved for 25 physiotherapy sessions, 25 chiropractic sessions and 12 active rehabilitation sessions by ICBC within 12 weeks of the accident without an ICBC approval.

  • pre-authorized sessions include the initial assessment
  • seeking treatment early helps to yield maximum treatment and results in getting you back to your normal life

At Vancouver Back Institute, we do direct billing to ICBC and will require the following:

  • Claim Number
  • Date of MVA
  • Personal Health Number
  • Date of Birth

*If your MVA date exceeded 12 weeks since your accident, please call or email us to find out more.

Treatment for a car accident is a 3-step process that involves:

Pain and symptom reduction

Regaining range of motion and strength

Regaining normal function and the ability to carry out daily activities

Our MVA Special Care involves dedicating staff to help you navigate the many treatment resources and plan ahead for ICBC to pay for these treatments. Our staff is experienced in both dealing with ICBC and injury recovery from car accidents. Furthermore, VBI houses many treatment resources under one roof. How the MVA specialist helps the patient:

  • choose the appropriate type of treatment you need, monitor your progress, and switch or incorporate other treatments when appropriate. (eg. start off with chiropractic care and add active rehab exercises later so that your recovery is sustainable)
  • communicate with family doctors, the therapists, and ICBC adjustor
  • secure funding for patient treatment to avoid lapse (This is a time-consuming process that requires planning ahead and multiple follow-ups. If not timed properly, the patient can wait for weeks without therapy until ICBC gives their approval for more treatment. During this time, the injury condition will regress)
  • book and manage treatment appointments

When all this hassle is taken away from the patient, you can simply focus on getting well. We understand that everyone’s body is different and has unique needs, especially when it comes to recovery from trauma.
